Eligibility Requirements For The EnCorps Program
You must be in a math, science, engineering, or computer science profession.
You must be fully eligible to work in the United States.
Your undergraduate GPA must be 2.5 or higher.
You must complete the following requirements to be fully accepted into the EnCorps program, and be eligible to apply for a substitute position:
• Baccalaureate (BA OR BS) Degree
• CBEST Exam - All applicants must take and pass the CBEST to receive an offer of admission.
• Submit copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts to EnCorps. (Original transcripts will be needed when you apply to the school district).
To qualify to become a full time teacher, in addition to the requirements listed above, you must:
• Pass the CSET Exam - applicants for full time teaching in Fall 2010 must take and pass 2-3 CSET subtests in math OR science no later than March 2010.
Once accepted into the program, you must complete the following requirements before beginning a full time teaching assignment in Fall 2010:
• Secure an offer of Employment from a partner school district
• Background checks for District and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing prior to entering the classroom and working with students.
• 120 hours of Pre-Service coursework with an through a university or district credentialing program.
• EnCorps Boot Camp
• 40 hours of Teaching English Learners coursework
• Current Verification of Negative TB Test or Chest X-Ray Results (obtained within two months of hire).
